This is a digital draft-at-home pattern for a stunning full length French evening gown from 1933. Square neckline front and back bodice is joined forming cape sleeves. The openings on top are retained at the shoulder by a loop/ buckle. There is a self-drafted cummerbund at the waist and a very full gored skirt bottom.
Silk Crepe Recommended: 1 meter wide, approx. 3.5 meters, contrast in 1 meter wide, 50 cm.

The original source material didn't include a sketch of the back of the dress. However, the back is nearly identical to the front of the gown, with a slightly higher square-cut.

This gown has so many uses. It would make an amazing, show-stopping wedding dress, the perfect evening gown to put others to shame, or a unique and timeless prom dress.

Fabric: this pattern requires approximately 4 meters (about 4 1/2 yards).

This is a pattern from a French pattern drafting system fairly similar to the Lutterloh golden rule patterns. You will be able to draft a pattern to your exact size from the miniature pattern template and specially designed rulers. To draft any of these special patterns to doll, children, and adult sizes is easy. Rulers are available to draft the pattern as small as a 5 1/2” bust/ hip to as large as a 60” bust/ hip and the pattern will be scaled perfectly every time. ALL RULERS ARE INCLUDED WITH THESE PATTERNS.

The pattern includes basic markings and notches that show you how they fit together, and indications such as dotted lines for cutting on the fold. I have included several pages of instructions that I have translated from the original French personally. The illustrated instructions show you how to easily draw your pattern pieces from the miniature pattern template using your special ruler.

These patterns were marketed originally to both home seamstresses and professionals alike and assume that you have a basic understanding of clothing construction.

Difficulty level:
These patterns might be a bit difficult for the beginner but an intermediate level home seamstress would probably have little trouble. The evening gown patterns are a bit more complex than average, especially as these come with no actual sewing instructions. Please keep this in mind as you purchase.
