This is a digital, draft-at-home pattern for a stunning, waist-length French evening coat from 1933. Designed with ermine fur in mind, this stunning coat features large, wide sleeves, a jeweled buckle at front, and a sash tie with long tails.

The collar and sleeves call for fur but can also be made in faux fur, or any medium to heavy weight fabric like velvet.

Fabric: The original source material didn't include this information. An estimate for a 36" bust size is approximately 2 meters 100 cm wide (about 2 1/2 yards). A test muslin will help you determine how much fabric to purchase.

This is a pattern from a French pattern drafting system fairly similar to the Lutterloh golden rule patterns. You will be able to draft a pattern to your exact size from the miniature pattern template and specially designed rulers. To draft any of these special patterns to doll, children, and adult sizes is easy. Rulers are available to draft the pattern as small as a 5 1/2” bust/ hip to as large as a 60” bust/ hip and the pattern will be scaled perfectly every time. ALL RULERS ARE INCLUDED WITH THESE PATTERNS.

The pattern includes basic markings and notches that show you how they fit together, and indications such as dotted lines for cutting on the fold. I have included several pages of instructions that I have translated from the original French personally. The illustrated instructions show you how to easily draw your pattern pieces from the miniature pattern template using your special ruler.

These patterns were marketed originally to both home seamstresses and professionals alike and assume that you have a basic understanding of clothing construction.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: ADVANCED.

The evening gown patterns are a bit more complex than our average patterns, especially as these come with no actual sewing instructions. Please keep this in mind as you purchase. As much as we try to offer technical support with our patterns, we got lots of emails every day so please don't be disappointed if we can't answer your sewing questions on these.
