1920s Designing with Foundation Patterns E-book

Vintage Woman's Institute Sewing Pattern Drafting, Designs and Alteration Book 1920s Designing with Foundation Patterns E-book -INSTANT DOWNLOAD-
$10 black

This beautiful book from 1923 has been digitally restored to its original glory.

The 73-page book is a collection of detailed sewing pattern drafting and alteration tutorials for bodices, blouses, dresses, sleeves, and skirts from the era's experts at the Woman's Institute of Domestic Arts & Sciences Dressmaking Department.

These lessons are specifically geared at detail-oriented QUALITY sewing techniques and unique elements.

Year: printed from 1919 to 1923.

The book features beautiful illustrations, photos, and detailed, illustrated instructions for altering a foundation sewing pattern to make any of the below. We have also added several new color fashion plates that reference the various styles mentioned in the book. These provide color, context, and in some cases clarity to the fashions of the time. These references include fashion illustrations from The Woman’s Institute Fashion Service (as drawn by the deft hand of Alice Seipp), McCall Quarterly and Fashion Books, as well as sewing patterns from my own collection. Full copies of these may be found here should you wish to further your research into the clothing of this time period. Aspects and techniques from this book are still used today in modern pattern drafting and dressmaking, and will hopefully help and inform your own work, as much as they have contributed to my own.
